Sony has such a great potential to build their ecosystem up and give Apple a good challenge. If they can make their HUGE variety of products communicate to each other seamlessly, I would give Sony a run. I mean, C'mon, everybody already has at least one Sony product, right?

Why does sony just try to creates something small and have a small prices to buy?

Sony probably had Youtubers in mind and they would probably disagree that there is a small target audience. Sony just doesn't understand that $2500 is a lot of money for some people. That is why a basic beginners camera without a lense will cost $2000 from Sony. You want an A7 SIII with 3 or 4 prime lenses? $10,000+ so you sure won't mind dropping another $2500 on a smart phone that will work nicely with the A7 SIII. This is their line of reasoning I am pretty sure.

Sony never fail to surprise everyone. Always on top of everything. The next thing we know, this kind of tech is being used in 3 to 4 years from now. Also, honest and good review. well done brother, well done.

you can buy a macbook pro and a prosumer mirrorless camera at the same price instead of having a phone that acts as external screen and internet connectivity for a specific camera (that you also have to buy extra to 2.5k phone)... I'll just leave it there...

While it's a great phone nobody in the major market will be buying this...same goes for the Walkman sony still makes which can go upwards to 1K...most of this stuff will end up being just a windows phone great concepts and ideas but another company out of touch with people, yes some may buy it but it won't be a major share that's for sure.

I have to ask you another question… With my phone attached to my mirror camera, can I take a call? Can I make a call?
Perhaps the high speed file transfer capabilities you mentioned, as well as the OLED display, are valuable enough to some small part of the market to justify the high dollar price-tag. But if I’m one of those few people that do need this device for my mirror less camera, I have to say that I’m gonna want a second phone as well to make phone calls or receive them while I’m doing my work.

I bet a lot of the functionality doesn't work, like sending a photo to the phone and out to the cloud or social media sites. This functionality has been claimed by Sony for a long time via bluetooth to your phone. It. Has. Never. Worked. I would like to have seen you test it rather than just accept Sony's word for it.

Great! Would it be a stretch to speculate that future versions might use video out and data sync via usb c, between a camera and the phone's screen, enabling the smartphone's touch screen to interface directly with the way the camera operates instead of using the buttons?

I had a Sony Xperia that I really wanted to like, but it was slow and the camera was garbage especially in low light environments.

Honestly, the reason I am considering an Xperia is because I dont do photography, I dont watch movies on it, but I am always listening to music on it. Sony has been some of the best in the business when it comes to audiophile equipment and they probably have the best digital audio converters it the smartphone world. I prefer wired headphones just because blutooth can lose some fidelity because the blutooth headphones have the DAC in them, but wired headphones can use the DAC the phone came with. Apple is pretty good, most android is a little worse, but Sony has made a reputation with quality DACs. I want to see if their phones are good for music lovers but nobody talks about that :(

LG should be thinking along the same lines. The 3.5mm audio jack can be there sweet spot. Music sounds really good on anything you plug it into. Doesn't have to be extreme just improve sound quality as much as possible for the audiophile

The reason why I buy sony smartphones en tv's is because of the quality. They don't break after 3 or 4 years like most of the Samsung products

People don’t buy the phone because none of the carriers have them available in store. You can’t make payments through your cell carrier. The only way to get a Sony phone is through Sony’s website. I guarantee you that if Sony had their phones right next to the Samsung and Apple phones at AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile their sales would go way up

What about in built cameras in that phone

Using that as a screen for that camera is relatively pointless though. The image is smaller than the built in swivel out screen on the camera itself. "But its in 4k..." BFD would anyone really notice a difference at the size?

If I was doing stedicam gigs more often I'd buy this in a heartbeat. It offers nothing to regular users, and I doubt vloggers could get the most out of it. Be a camera operator in sports events or conserts etc., this is the nothing short of jawdropping.
